The natural law of nature and indeed to some extent that of economics state that whatever goes up is bound to make a landfall. This is the case as it regards Rice, a major staple food in Nigeria. Going down memory lane the price of the grain has been spiraling upward since the beginning of 2016, there was a point in time where it was sold for close to N30, 000. The good news right now is that the popular everyday food that graces our meal tables is bowing to the law of nature.
Recession is gradually packing its bags out of Nigeria as the economic policies of the Buhari administration is yielding results in leaps as Nigeria’s plan to be self-sufficient in food production by 2017 seems to be on course. Rice markets booms again in the north. In a post and pictures shared by Yusuf Usman Shettima, he noted that somewhere in the north, prices of rice have gone down as low as N550 to N700 per measure. He wrote: This is a rice market somewhere in Northern Nigeria”
